Gaudete Sunday! Light the rose candle!
The Prophet Zephaniah says: "Shout for joy, O daughter Zion! Sing joyfully, O Israel! Be joyful and exult with all your heart, O daughter Jerusalem! The LORD, your God, is in your midst, a mighty savior; he will rejoice over you with gladness, and renew you in his love!"
The Psalmist sings: "Cry out with joy and gladness; for among you is the great and Holy One of Israel!"
St. Paul reminds his brothers and sister in Philippa: "Rejoice in the Lord always. I shall say it again, rejoice!"
St. Luke tells us of the preaching of John the Baptist; the multitudes came to receive a baptism of forgiveness, and repentant, they asked how to change their ways. He preached the good news to all who would hear.
Always, let us choose the way of joy and light.
